The LEAD & Mentorship Program
The LEAD & Mentorship program, currently supported by the Dan Thompson Memorial Grant, is a powerful initiative aimed at empowering adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Designed to provide essential resources, strengthen community relationships, and help participants achieve personal goals, this program offers two distinct engagement tracks.
The Personal Enrichment & Life Skills Development track allows participants to delve into topics such as personal values, respect, time management, financial awareness, employment preparation, and social communication.
The Academic Success & Exploration track offers assistance in building skills for academic success, providing study tips, post-secondary education support services, college connections, and fostering social communication.
Each participant is paired with a peer mentor, helping to reinforce the skills gained in workshops. The LEAD program is centered on the principles of Learning, Access, Exploration, and Demonstration, offering participants the chance to enhance their knowledge, access supportive materials and technology, explore personal interests, and demonstrate their acquired skills.
We firmly believe that through this program, participants will gain Competence, Confidence, Connection, Character, and Caring & Compassion. Our mentorship program brings tangible benefits to both mentors and mentees, fostering a nurturing environment that promotes personal and community growth.
