What is Ashby Family’s Community Engagement & Inclusion Service?

This program is designed to help you live more independently and feel more connected. We offer support not just within four walls, but out in the places where life happens. We work directly with Clark County and the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to deliver these services. It includes two types, both with the same purpose: to support your goals and help you thrive in the community.

Community Engagement

This service helps individuals explore new experiences, build connections, and practice important life skills, like learning how to ride the bus, finding local events, or joining an activity for the first time. It’s about supporting your independence through real-world engagement.

Community Inclusion

This path focuses on deeper, long-term community involvement through shared interests. It could be volunteering, joining a group, or taking a class. The goal is to build meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging in the community.

Who This Program Is For

This service is available to adults with developmental disabilities who:

  • Are enrolled in DDA programs like the Basic Plus, IFS, or Core waivers
  • Want to build stronger ties to their local community
  • Are referred by a case worker or support team looking for the right-fit provider

How It Works With Ashby Family

We make it simple to start. Here’s what the process looks like:

1

Get Referred

Your case worker refers you to Ashby Family as your service provider.

2

 Fill Out the Intake Form

This quick form helps us learn about you, your interests, and your goals.

3

 Build Your Plan

We match you with one-on-one or small group support depending on your needs and preferences.

4

Get Out There

Join a local chess club. Try an art class. Practice bus routes. We’ll support you, not supervise you.

Your Next Step Could Be a First Step Toward Belonging.

Let’s find what feels right to you and build from there.
